A Fabulous year for Box City! 07/28/2010
The 2nd Annual Box City Summer Art Camp was a huge hit! The campers, ranging from ages 6 to 13, had a wonderful time and learned a lot about city planning in the process. The camp consisted of discussions on architecture, city planning, after-lunch exercises, The Ice Cream Girl and Co. and the constructing of buildings for their cities. Rosana Juestel and Martha Santana from the City’s Planning Department did an excellent job guiding the campers in the placement of their buildings in the town. Kara Layfield, owner of Adventure Boot Camp, also donated her time for the afternoon exercise sessions. In addition, we were fortunate to have an extraordinary group of counselors. Not only were they creative, but they were wonderfully patient in assisting the campers in building each camps cities. Because of the success and positive reaction we received, Historic Columbus will continue to plan and build Box City each year. Thanks to all of our sponsors, counselors, and Board of Directors for donating boxes and lunches. Without your support, we couldn't have pull it off!
