Historic Columbus’s Second Annual Celebrate Columbus

The past, present, and future of the Chattahoochee River

This year, Historic Columbus will spotlight the Chattahoochee River at the 2nd Annual Celebrate Columbus!  This event will take place at Heritage Park (701 Broadway), April 22, 2010 from 6:30-8:3pm and will be FREE for the HCF membership and the Columbus community!  There will be a cash bar and dinner available for purchase from Country’s Barbeque and Twelfth Street Deli and Catering Company.

The evening will begin with cocktail and dinner hour followed by a twenty minute program featuring local historian Clason Kyle and Mat Swift, president of W.C. Bradley Co. Real Estate Division.  Mr. Kyle will entertain us with stories of the men and the major businesses who harnessed the power of Chattahoochee and Mr. Swift will speak on the present development of the river and future of “White Water.” Following the presentation on the past, present, and exciting future of the Chattahoochee River, there will be a rubber duck race down the falls of Heritage Park.  Three hundred ducks will be dropped in and the first duck down wins a one hour flight over the Chattahoochee and dinner for two.  Second duck wins $500 and third duck wins a Charbroil Grill.

Ducks are $20 each and will be available for purchase at The Rankin House, Ann’s Porch, Galleria Riverside, Sample Shop, Country’s Barbeque, Speakeasy, Twelfth Street Deli, or online at www.historiccolumbus.com.
